Covering an area of 4.5 hectares, the Domaine de Famolens is located in the Mont-sur-Rolle production area.
The estate grows Chasselas, Merlot, Gamaret, Pinot Noir and Gamay grapes. It is currently undergoing conversion to organic farming. The estate's plots are located at the foot of Mont sur Rolle. The soil is loamy, sandy and calcareous. It produces wines with a refined and smooth profile.
The origins of the estate date back to 1787. Over the centuries, various buildings (wine press, cellar with wooden barrels, vat room, accommodation for grape pickers, sheds) have been added to the historic building.
In 1959, Charles Aepli, master cooper and owner of a cellar construction company in Rolle, acquired the estate as joint owner with his partner Auguste Chevalley, a winegrower and wine merchant in Mont-sur-Rolle.
After inheriting his father Charles' share of the co-ownership, Pierre Aepli had the opportunity a few years later to take over the entire estate. He then passed on the property to his son Stephan, whose family now represents the fourth generation of Aeplis in Famolens.
Stephan, who knew Vincent Graenicher from their time serving together as officers in the 1st Vaud Carabiniers Battalion, entrusted him with the running of the estate in 2020. Since then, Vincent Graenicher has been cultivating, vinifying and selling Famolens wines.
To date, two wines are produced: a Grand Cru (Chasselas) and a Merlot Réserve barrique. They are aged in the estate's cellars.
